Assistant Manager

Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record meeting company standards, and have access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery. General Job Duties Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler. Receive and process telephone orders. Take inventory and complete associated paperwork. Clean equipment and facility approximately daily. Training Orientation and training provided on the job. Communication skills: comprehend and give correct written instructions, and communicate verbally with customers and co-workers to process orders over the phone and in person. Essential Functions / Skills Accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide; may use a calculator. Make correct monetary change. Verbal, written, and telephone skills to take and process orders; motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers for rapid, accurate movements. Enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen. Navigate a map to locate addresses within the designated delivery area and navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites while carrying product. Work Conditions Varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when delivering product or handling other outside tasks. In-store temperatures ranging from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F or higher in some work areas. Sudden changes in temperature while working inside or outside. Fumes from food odors, exposure to cornmeal dust, cramped quarters including walk-in cooler. Hot surfaces/tools up to 500°F or higher and sharp edges and moving mechanical parts. Sensing Requirements Talk and hear on the telephone; near and mid-range vision for most in-store tasks. Depth perception. Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces. Far vision and night vision for driving. Temperament The ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet strict quality control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions. Physical Requirements Standing Most tasks are performed from a standing position. Walking surfaces include ceramic tile "bricks" with linoleum in some food process areas. Height of work surfaces is between 36" and 48". Walking For short distances and short durations; delivery personnel must travel between the store and delivery vehicle and from the delivery vehicle to the customer's location. Sitting Paperwork is normally completed in an office at a desk or table. Lifting Bulk product deliveries are made twice a week or more and are unloaded using a hand truck. Deliveries may include cases of ingredients and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds (3 ft × 1.5 ft). Cases are usually lifted from floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72 in. high. Carrying Large cans (3 lb 7 oz) are carried from the workstation to storage shelves. Occasionally pizza sauce 30 lb is carried from storage room to front of store. Trays of dough carried three at a time over short distances, ≈12 lb per tray. During delivery, carry pizzas and beverages while walking and climbing. Pushing Move trays placed on dollies. A stack of trays on a dolly (24–30 in) requires a force of up to 7.5 lb to push; trays may also be pulled. Climbing Infrequently navigate stairs or climb ladders to change signs, wash walls, or perform maintenance. During delivery may navigate five or more flights of stairs. Stooping / Bending Forward bending at the waist at pizza assembly station. Must not flex knees while standing at station; duration ≈30–45 s, repeated continuously during day. Forward bending also present at front counter and while stocking ingredients. Crouching / Squatting Performed occasionally to stock shelves and to clean low areas. Hand Tasks Eye‑hand coordination essential. Hand use continuous throughout day; frequent activities require use of one or both hands. Shaping dough requires forceful arm use; manipulating pizza peel, rolling cutter, and assembling cardboard boxes requires frequent pinching and grasping. Driving Specific Job Duties Deliver product by car to customer door. Deliver flyers and door hangers. Must Meet Valid driver's license with safe driving record meeting company standards.
