Job Title: Buyer • Duration: 5 months Location: Stow, MA 01775 Pay Rate: $27.00 - $29.94 hourly Job Summary Procures commodities (supplies, services & equipment) for various units within the Department as needed, keeps up to date on buying policies & procedures, prepares RFQ's & bids; through verbal & written communication; assists division with coordination of all aspects of purchasing; and performs related work as required. Responsibilities Review purchase requests to ensure compliance with policies, procedures & regulations. Determine contract reference (statewide, departmental or GSA) and research competitive pricing. Prepare encumbrance documents in CommBuys/MMARS and local databases; place orders with vendors; verify receipt, quality & invoicing. Review invoices prior to payment; submit invoices to AP in a timely manner, ensuring payments processed against correct encumbrance documents. Maintain vendor files and database; monitor MMARS for procurement glitches and notify supervisor. Assist in preparation of RFQ's & bids for commodities not on contract; evaluate bids against criteria and award contract; process contract renewals. Reconcile expenditures & encumbrances with contracts and resolve discrepancies; bring problems to supervisor and identify solutions.
