Location: Gilbert, AZ

Start Date: 11-09-2026

End Date: 02-08-2027

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Day shifts, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, with self-scheduling available, 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, and holiday rotation with permanent staff

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $57.40 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert cardiac telemetry care to patients waiting for an inpatient bed
• Read and interpret cardiac strips with confidence since there is no monitor tech in the ED
• Titrate cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone per physician orders and parameters
• Perform thorough patient assessments and keep a close eye on changing conditions
• Administer medications and start IVs with precision and a calm bedside manner
• Monitor vital signs and document everything accurately in Cerner
• Jump in to help ED patients with vitals, IV starts, and medication administration when needed
• Float across med/surg, tele, and overflow units to support wherever the need is greatest

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license with the ability to submit for licensure
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
• A strong cardiac tele background, preferably 2 years of hands-on experience
• Comfortable decreasing and titrating cardiac drips based on physician orders and parameters
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam through UNA prior to start, with a maximum of 2 attempts
• Must pass the SIM lab on day one of orientation
• Prior travel experience is not required, so if you are ready for your first adventure, we would love to hear from you
• BSN not required

Education

• Common diagnoses/Types of patients ED holds waiting for placement on a unit, primarily MS/Tele
• Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have a strong cardiac tele background, preferably 2 years. Must be able to decrease cardiac drips per physicians’ orders and parameters. (Please confirm this experience on notes- updated cardiac gtts per Tracey 1.29.20 KR) Nurses will be caring for more tele patients VS medical. (MS/Tele travlers DO NOT need prior travel experience, per Tracey Greene 6.9.2022- LMussmann)
• Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
• Common titratable &/or set rate drips Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor ED charge nurse.
• Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios ED PCTs available
• RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, etc) No Vents
• Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Nurses must be able to read & interpret strips. No monitor tech in the ED.
• Shifts & Scheduling 12 hr shifts (7a - 7p or 7p - 7a) Ability to self-schedule
• however this could change from time to time.
• Weekend Requirement 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule.
• Holiday Requirement Rotate in with the perm staff
• Is there a call or standby requirement? No call required
• Floating Requirements Would float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and CRMC/MGMC Eds as needed.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy
• Unit/Department specific orientation 2 shifts orientation to Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus.
• Additional Notes Will be caring for patients from the ER who are waiting on a bed in the hospital.
• Additional Questions May be asked to help with ED patients including vitals, IV starts and medicaton administration. Will not be asked to be primary RN for ED patient assignment.

• Cerner charting experience
• Teamwork and flexibility with floating between units
• Comfort caring for med/surg and tele patient populations
