Job Title: General Production Laborer Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Production Laborer to join our team. This role involves standing for long hours, lifting heavy materials, and using various hand and power tools. Your primary responsibility will be preparing concrete beds and ensuring accurate placement of frames and rebar. If you enjoy physical work and being part of a dynamic team, this job is for you.

Responsibilities

• Stand for 10 hours a day.
• Lift 20 to 40 pounds consistently.
• Read work orders and use a tape measure.
• Operate hand tools such as sander, grinder, scraper, and trowel.
• Prepare the concrete bed for laying precast concrete.
• Ensure frames are correctly placed using a tape measure.
• Collaborate with team members to clean the concrete bed.
• Bend up and down frequently to move and measure rebar.
• Pull rebar to prevent concrete from breaking.
• Use various power tools including grinders, wrenches, tweezers, and pliers.
• Occasionally scrape off unwanted product from the concrete bed.

Essential Skills

• Experience in general production, construction, or landscaping.
• Ability to stand, bend, and move for 10 hours a day.
• Capability to lift 20 to 40 pounds.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry, remodeling, and finishing.
• Knowledge of heavy landscaping.
• Ability to handle construction talk and work in high-performance environments.

Work Environment

You will work in a large plant with shifts typically starting at 6 am and lasting around 9 to 10 hours. The environment is dirty and dusty, with most of the work being outdoors in various weather conditions. The facility operates year-round with some slowing during winter. Be prepared to handle the physical demands and construction-related communication typical of this setting. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, Iowa. The normal shift is from 6 am to 2:30 pm or 7 am to 3:30 pm, although work may continue until 5:30 pm or later on some days.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
