Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

Seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients across multiple units, including the Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Shift Information

• Work Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Rotation: Required

Patient Ratios

The expected nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 to 1:3, ensuring a focus on individualized patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in critical settings.
• Float within the scope of practice to various pediatric units as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor and assess patient status, implementing appropriate interventions.
• Educate families and caregivers on patient health topics and care plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric Intensive Care.
• Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license in South Carolina or a Multi-State/Compact State RN License required.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Experience with ECMO and CRRT preferred.

Scheduling and Availability

• Managers may consider block schedule requests depending on unit needs.
• All requests for time off must be submitted at the time of application for consideration, based on unit requirements.
• Note: The facility reserves the right to call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.

Additional Considerations

Travelers should be aware of potential assignments to emergency response teams during hurricane season, which spans from June through November. It is advisable not to confirm new assignments during this period, with peak hurricane activity typically occurring in August and September.
