Behavioral Health Therapist II Inova Pride Clinic Center Falls Church is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist II who brings clinical experience in affirming, culturally responsive care for LGBTQ+ individuals and diverse communities. This role integrates evidence-based practices with identity-informed care, collaborates across disciplines, and contributes meaningfully to inclusive, person-centered behavioral health. Behavioral Health Therapist II Job Responsibilities Assess and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders using evidence-based assessments, integrating cultural, clinical, ethnic, age, and other factors into care plans. Provide therapeutic interventions, psycho‑educational programming, and behavioral interventions to help patients and families achieve goals of individualized service plans. Offer care management to connect patients and families with appropriate healthcare and community resources, and when indicated, participate in inpatient and community psycho‑educational programs, facilitate support groups, and assist with community outreach. Minimum Qualifications Education: Master’s Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders, or related field. Experience: Two years of mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psycho‑educational programming, and targeted evidence‑based interventions (e.g., crisis intervention, trauma, integrative therapies). Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association within 3 months of hire; Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire. Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP). Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of direct experience working with LGBTQ+ populations and understanding diverse lived experiences and support needs. Clinical insight into family systems and relational dynamics for promoting resilience and emotional wellness. Strong foundation in trauma‑informed care and integrative therapeutic modalities, experience in individual and group therapy across life spans. Ability to facilitate psycho‑educational programming tailored to diverse identity groups and life experiences. Comfortable delivering behavioral health interventions within integrated primary care settings; skilled with screening tools (e.g., PHQ‑9, GAD‑7) and collaboration with medical providers.
