District Support Pharmacist Full Time

The District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role by cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy, acting as role models, and ensuring safe, high‑quality patient care. Responsibilities Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC). Oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the pharmacy team to do the same. Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the only or primary pharmacist on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences through empathy, genuine care, coaching the team, and resolving insurance/medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging Pharmacy Technicians in training to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory effectively, guiding the team in best practices and protecting cold chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain clinical and technical skills, completing required trainings and CMEs, and seek opportunities for growth. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permissible, empowering the team to provide holistic care. Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing, privacy, and workplace safety. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety. Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Use verbal and written communication effectively, practicing active listening. Apply mathematical reasoning to dispense accurate medication supplies. Resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions, choosing the best course of action. Physical Demands Mobile and upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, bag items up to 20 lbs with occasional heavier loads. Stretch and reach to grasp items, move, or lift. Operate machinery with precision and quick adjustment. Stoop to a considerable degree, using lower extremities and back muscles. Maintain close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing and reading small parts. Use spoken communication to convey detailed instructions accurately. Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager. Preferred Qualifications 1‑2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). No DEA Excluded Parties list status.
