Medical Laboratory Technician 2

Medical Laboratory Technician 2 Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician 2 to join the team. This is a PRN. This position will provide coverage across multiple laboratory locations as operational needs require (Alexandria, Springfield HealthPlex, and Oakville Health Center). Job Responsibilities Ensures quality specimens for laboratory testing by recognizing pre‑analytical factors that adversely affect patient results. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships. Demonstrates a knowledge of operational/regulatory standards. Operates systems/methodologies to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control, and proficiency testing. Participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team, and departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards. Additional Duties Floats to other areas to maintain productivity and proficiency. Follows site‑specific standard operating procedures, manuals, and instructions; adheres to laboratory safety procedures and processes at all times. Minimum Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree in science from a regionally accredited college/university. Other acceptable forms of education include credentials from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologists Board certification. Additional acceptable pathways: completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program; 50‑week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the last ten years; or three years of full‑time acceptable clinical experience. Board certification eligibility can be used as proof that this requirement is met. Experience: One year of experience. Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program, or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the last 12 months, can be used in lieu of one year of full‑time acceptable clinical experience.
