Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Machine Operator Assistant for our 3rd shift production team. The role involves assisting in the operation of production machinery, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and organized work area. This position offers a competitive pay rate with an additional shift premium.
Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of production machinery by loading and unloading materials.
• Monitor equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Inspect materials to meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow safety and quality procedures diligently.
• Consistently lift 30-50 lbs throughout the shift.
• Work independently or as part of a team.

Essential Skills

• Mechanically inclined with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform general labor tasks such as assembly, packing, and inspection.
• Proficient in machine operation and mechanical assembly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with power and hand tools, gluing machines, and folding machines is advantageous.
• Prior experience in packaging companies is beneficial.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and perform tasks involving bending and twisting.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily in a paper and cardboard production setting. It is essential to wear personal protective equipment such as eye protection, closed-toed shoes, hearing protection, and a hi-vis vest, all of which are provided. The environment requires adherence to strict safety guidelines, including no jewelry, food, gum, drinks, or headphones on the production floor. The atmosphere is darker, typical of a manufacturing setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
