Location: 1 Insights Drive, Clifton, NJ 07012

Contract Duration: 4+ months contract with possible extension

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Hours: 40 hours/week

Shift/Time Zone: Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 PM-7:30 AM


Job Summary


The Lab Assistant performs various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate manner to assist laboratory professional staff and facilitate laboratory production.


Key Responsibilities

• Sort and receive specimens in the department.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated equipment.
• Centrifuge specimens.
• Print additional specimen labels as needed.
• Record laboratory data, including temperature charts.
• Perform specimen storage and retrieval.
• Prepare reagents and/or media within the department.
• Prepare specimens at workstations for testing.
• Build laboratory worklists.
• liquot specimens into sample cups.
• Check specimens for clots and fibrin.
• Perform inoculation and slide preparation as required.
• Perform assigned QA/QC duties.
• Resolve pending lists.
• Locate missing samples.
• Decontaminate work areas.
• Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
• Maintain department records and files.
• Change gas cylinders.
• Follow all required PPE and laboratory safety regulations .
• Use the laboratory computer system and operate PCs.
• Properly dispose of biohazardous materials.
• Complete required training and competency checklists.
• Perform other related laboratory duties as assigned.

Required Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant training is helpful.
• Math and science coursework is preferred.

Work Experience

• No prior work experience is required.
