Medical Record Coordinator

Medical Record Coordinator Location: US-AL-Montgomery Position Type: Full-Time Overview NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a Medical Records Coordinator to join our team at our regional office in Montgomery, Alabama . The Medical Records Coordinator coordinates compliance activities in our facilities in preparation for contract‑required performance audits. In this role, you will assist site leadership by conducting regular internal audits, chart reviews, and data collection to measure progress on meeting various contractual performance indicators and compliance improvement plans. This is not a remote position and will require 50% travel. Responsibilities Pull charts, compile all data, and organize all information necessary for AL DOC OHS audits of the Medical Services Program and for any internal audits conducted in preparation for OHS audits. Assist the AL DOC OHS staff as needed during the actual audits by retrieving files and other documents. Serve as the focal point for data collection efforts for the NaphCare Alabama Compliance Team, including copying charts and other reports at the request of AL DOC OHS or NaphCare leadership. Provide training as needed for new on‑site staff for positions such as Medical Record Clerk, Administrative Assistant, and Scheduler. Assist with activities associated with organizing and medical record filing at facilities with vacancies. Review and audit all data prepared for adequacy, accuracy, and compliance with contractual requirements and specifications prior to audits. Make frequent visits to facilities to gather data, prepare for audits, and other duties as needed. Protect confidentiality of patient information gathered, both verbally and in writing, to maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist the Senior Compliance Director in generating monthly Compliance Improvement Plan (CIP) update reports. Approach change in a positive manner. Make suggestions for improving working conditions. Accept constructive criticism in stressful situations. Have good assessment skills and good communication skills. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Prior experience in correctional healthcare a plus. At least two years’ experience in medical record management, medical chart reviews, or a related health care position. Organized and detail‑oriented. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to problem‑solve. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, result‑oriented environment.
