Location: USA - Miami, 12430 NW 25th St Division:Group Job Posting Title:Senior Pricing Analyst, Ocean Pricing Time Type:Full Time Summary The Senior Ocean Pricing Analyst supports profitable ocean freight growth by converting customer and commercial requirements into accurate, timely, competitive, and executable pricing solutions. The role accelerates the business development cycle through immediate, time-sensitive pricing analysis and quoting for new customers, new trade lanes, dormant-account reactivation, and selected RFQ or tender opportunities. The analyst serves as a key liaison among Sales, Branches, Tender Management, Global Ocean Product Management, procurement, operations, and network partners, while maintaining strong data integrity, communication, and commercial discipline. Duties and Responsibilities Execute end-to-end ocean freight pricing for spot quotes, multi-lane quotations, RFQs, and selected tender opportunities within the approved GOP Sea Pricing US scope and governance. Accelerate business development through timely pricing analysis and competitive, profitable proposals for new customers, new trade lanes, dormant-account reactivation, and other strategic growth opportunities. Act as a key liaison among Sales, Branches, Tender Management, Global Ocean Product Management, procurement, operations, carriers, and network partners, translating customer requirements into executable pricing solutions. Develop pricing strategies using market intelligence, carrier and routing alternatives, net costs, trucking and accessorial inputs, service requirements, rate validity, free time, risk, and appropriate margin treatment. Prioritize opportunities based on urgency, customer potential, expected volume, profitability, strategic value, complexity, deadlines, and available capacity, while redirecting out-of-scope work to the appropriate owner. Prepare accurate and complete submissions with clear pricing logic, terms and conditions, validity, inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, routing, and analyst remarks; perform or participate in peer quality checks for significant bids. Maintain proactive and professional communication by clarifying requirements, managing expectations, providing status updates, escalating risks early, documenting agreements, and meeting turnaround-time and bid deadlines. Request and document post-quote feedback, award status, loss reasons, and booked volume; maintain reliable KPI and pricing data across approved systems, dashboards, trackers, and shared files. Analyze pricing and performance results to provide actionable recommendations and use approved technology, automation, and AI tools to improve quality, traceability, efficiency, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Remain adaptable and flexible as customer needs, market conditions, priorities, systems, and workload change, supporting workload redistribution and special projects when required. Educational Background / Work Experience Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, finance, international trade, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. Minimum five years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, ocean pricing, commercial quoting, procurement, or tender management is required. Demonstrated experience handling ocean freight pricing, multi-lane RFQs, tender or negotiation rounds, rate analysis, and stakeholder coordination is required. Working knowledge of freight-forwarding commercial and operational processes, including carrier and inland pricing, accessorials, rate validity, service options, and profitability considerations is required. Skills & Competencies Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to ask focused questions, explain pricing logic clearly, manage expectations, influence stakeholders, and document decisions professionally. Strong commercial judgment and customer focus, with the ability to balance competitiveness, speed, service quality, risk, and profitability. Advanced analytical and problem-solving ability, including validation of pricing inputs, formulas, trends, options, and complex or incomplete requests. High degree of ownership, urgency, accountability, attention to detail, and follow-through. Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, prioritize high-value opportunities, and collaborate effectively in a geographically dispersed team. Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-changing market, including shifting priorities, short rate validity, urgent deadlines, new systems, and evolving processes. Technology-forward mindset and willingness to test, learn, and adopt new digital tools without compromising data quality or governance. Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, participate in peer quality reviews, share knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement. Confidence to elevate concerns, challenge unsupported assumptions, and recommend practical alternatives while maintaining a collaborative tone. Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes Ocean freight pricing across FCL and LCL, including recurring spot opportunities, RFQs, selected tenders, special equipment or complex multi-origin and multi-destination requests as applicable. Understanding of major ocean trade lanes, carrier and service selection, routing alternatives, capacity constraints, free time, origin and destination charges, inland transportation, surcharges, and rate validity. Commercial understanding of customer development, sales pipeline management, target accounts, new-logo acquisition, dormant-account reactivation, new-lane development, and post‑bid feedback. Ability to interpret customer templates, forecasted volumes, service requirements, procurement inputs, and pricing guidance and convert them into executable proposals. Knowledge of quote governance, quality control, version management, shared‑mailbox traceability, documentation standards, KPI definitions, and data‑quality requirements. Supervisory Responsibilities (if any) This position does not normally include direct people-management responsibility. As a senior-level role, the employee may mentor analysts, provide pricing guidance, lead selected bids or workstreams, and perform peer quality reviews. Preferred Qualifications Experience in U.S. ocean freight pricing, freight forwarding, carrier procurement, or tender management. Experience with CargoWise One, global pricing or carrier‑rate tools, customer relationship management systems, SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, Power BI, or comparable pricing and reporting platforms. Experience with process improvement, workflow automation, data visualization, or controlled use of approved AI tools. Bilingual capability is a plus. Computer Literacy Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working proficiency in Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint are required. The successful candidate must be comfortable learning and using pricing systems, freight‑forwarding applications, dashboards, databases, workflow tools, and approved automation or AI solutions. For this position, the expected base pay is: $66,000 - $82,000 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations. This position can be at any DSV location in USA or remote USA.
