Entry-Level Career Geologist/Scientist

Job Description WSP is seeking an Entry-Level Career Geologist/Scientist for our Louisville, KY office. As part of the Earth & Environment team you will conduct field investigation projects and provide support to technical staff and project managers on due diligence, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects. Responsibilities Assist with collecting, extracting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from soil sampling, soil gas sampling, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, boring logs, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys with minimal supervision. Review, integrate, and perform quality control on geologic, hydrogeologic, and other databases. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements and analysis. Write technical reports summarizing research, procedures, findings, and conclusions for due diligence and site investigation field work including Phase I and II ESAs. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and software. Comply with safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures including sample collection, laboratory documentation, written procedures, and field/work site logbooks. Assist with maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment and tools and performing inventory control activities. Assist technical staff and project managers with environmental risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and remediation projects. Work with cross‑functional teams to execute project work. Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field work permitting. Complete training on assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications BS or BA in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, or Environmental Science. 0 to 1 year of experience. Familiar with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements. Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others and expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non‑scientific audience. Self‑leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi‑tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to meet business objectives. Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, and communication software, technology, and tools. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Physical demands: ability to lift 50 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods either stationary or walking through all types of terrain. Travel will be required depending on project‑specific requirements. Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight‑fitting respirator / Fit for Duty Exam / Medical Exam. Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. Preferred Qualifications Completion of 40‑Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.
