Job Title: Accountant Location: Sidney, OH (onsite) Job Overview Are you an Accountant who wants to be closer to the business—not just closing the books, but understanding what the numbers mean, what is driving performance, and how finance can influence better decisions? At Ingersoll Rand’s Sidney, Ohio manufacturing site, this role offers the opportunity to step into a visible, hands‑on finance position supporting a growing, high‑potential business unit. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll own key pieces of the month‑end close, cost accounting, variance analysis, journal entries, and financial reporting, while partnering directly with plant and operations leaders to connect financial performance to what is happening on the production floor. This is not a routine, back‑office accounting role. With shared services supporting transactional activity, your focus will be on higher‑value work: analyzing costs, identifying trends, explaining variances, supporting internal controls, and helping leadership make informed decisions around production, profitability, and operational performance. The right person will ideally bring strong manufacturing accounting experience, solid ERP and Excel skills, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly across different levels of the organization. Just as important, this role is ideal for someone who is curious, business‑minded, and ready to grow—someone who wants to build credibility with operations, strengthen their cost accounting depth, and develop toward future leadership opportunities. Responsibilities Assist the Controller with deliverables and deadlines Perform the monthly accounting close process, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entry postings Support compliance with SOX and internal controls, as well as assisting with audit requirements Review and analyze plant variances to determine cause Assist with excess and obsolete inventory review Support annual standard cost process and perform ad‑hoc requests Establish costing for all new parts and review request for all cost updates on existing parts Ability to work in cross functional teams throughout the organization to drive results Assist with accounts payable invoice approval/processing Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance 3+ years of progressive accounting experience / cost accounting in a manufacturing setting 3+ years of experience working with ERP accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JDE) 2+ years of hands‑on Excel experience with proficiency in formula‑driven analysis such as VLOOKUPs and PivotTables 2+ years of hands‑on experience preparing journal entries and executing month‑end close activities 2+ years of hands‑on experience with GAAP and SOX compliance, including a strong understanding of internal controls and exposure interfacing with external auditors Core Competencies Manufacturing Finance & Cost Accounting Expertise GAAP/SOX Compliance & Internal Controls Proficiency Advanced Analytical & Problem‑Solving Skills Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Business Partnership Ability to Manage Multiple Priorities in a Fast‑Paced Environment Clear & Effective Communication Across All Organizational Levels Preferences Master’s Degree CMA, CFA and/or CPA Certification SAP, Windchill and/or Hyperion Consolidation experience Travel and Work Arrangements This role is onsite in Sidney, OH Minimal travel less than 5% Pay Range The base pay range for this role is $75,000 - $95,000 annually. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate’s skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
