Assistant District Attorney Prosecutorial District 5, Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties Opening Date: December 1, 2025 Closing Date: Until Filled Class Code: 0206 Position Number: 006100612 Grade: 1 Salary: $71,843.20 - $139,110.40/year* Salary Competitive and Based on Qualifications *Pursuant to 5 MRS § 196, the salary for this position has been set by the Office of the Attorney General The District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney for Penobscot County with occasional Piscataquis County coverage. This Assistant District Attorney will be primarily responsible for criminal prosecution for both adults and juveniles in the Unified Criminal Docket, as well as appellate cases before the Law Court. Candidates should have a strong desire for a career in litigation and good writing skills are essential. Trial experience and developed trial skills are a plus. High ethical standards, sound judgment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and good organizational/time‐management skills are essential. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be members of the Maine Bar and in good standing. They should have a strong desire for a career in litigation, trial experience and developed trial skills are a plus, high ethical standards, sound judgment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and good organizational/time‑management skills.
