Assistant Operations Manager - MIT

Assistant Operations Manager (Manager-in-Training) Title: Assistant Operations Manager - MIT Compensation: $70,304-$75,000 per year Job Overview The Assistant Operations Manager will assist in coordinating and directing operations necessary to carry out contractual responsibilities between SBM and customers. Duties include planning, supervision, budgeting, vendor and supply contact, customer relations, and high-level managerial or supervisory responsibilities. Roles & Responsibilities Assist with developing work schedules to ensure adequate service. Prepare schedules for service personnel and assign personnel to routes. Assist with inspection and evaluation of establishments for program compliance (safety, quality, service). Assist with inventory management of supplies and equipment. Investigate and promote improved equipment and methods. Review customer requests for service to ascertain cause, type of malfunction, and coordinate with management. Assist with implementation and execution of policies and goals. Inspect plant and evaluate use of space and facilities. Assist with plan, budgeting, and schedule modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, and contracts. Participate in the development of long‑range plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay requirements for program/process improvements. Assist with coordination of program specifications, requirements for proposals and contracts, and associated documents. Maintain a safe work environment for self and employees. Assist with compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., FLSA, OSHA, ADA). Act as liaison between company, customers, clients, employees, and subcontractors. Review correspondence concerning contractors and respond as appropriate. Establish and maintain contact with contractors to ensure smooth contract execution. Conduct and attend meetings to communicate top‑down and bottom‑up on a consistent real‑time basis with customers, clients, and employees. Assist with human resource concerns and issues. Some travel may be required for this position. Qualifications Education and Experience A.A. Degree required in Business Management, or a related field with 2+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CPR/AED/First Aid certification a plus. Bilingual a plus. Valid driver’s license may be required. Completed all safety and task training certification. Forklift certification may be required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bilingual a plus. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with team. Knowledge of upkeep and care of cleaning equipment. Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use. Customer service, problem solving, time management, project management, planning. Excellent communication, presentation, interviewing, coaching, and training skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer skills. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees, and the general public. Supervisory Responsibilities Carrying out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; performance evaluations; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensuring employees are properly trained on tasks and safety requirements. Physical Demands & Work Environment Frequently required to sit and talk or listen.
