Job Description

This role focuses on the precise mechanical and electrical assembly, fabrication, testing, and inspection of products in accordance with documented procedures and a robust quality system. You will assemble and handle products, equipment, and materials following production department guidelines, ensuring all work meets strict safety, quality, and compliance standards. The position involves frequent use of hand and power tools, measurement devices, and test equipment, as well as reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Follow established procedures for product assembly, fabrication, testing, inspection, equipment operation, and safety requirements as defined in the company’s quality system.

• Assemble mechanical and electrical components, including bolting, screwing, and riveting parts together to build units and subassemblies.

• Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, and other hand measurement tools to verify specified tolerances.

• Position and align parts accurately according to blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and specifications to ensure proper fit and function.

• Disassemble and replace parts as required for repair, rework, or product modifications.

• Clean and lubricate parts and assemblies to maintain performance and reliability.

• Perform soldering and de-soldering on surface-mounted devices and associated electrical wiring as needed for assembly and repair.

• Mark and label parts and assemblies with identifying information for traceability and documentation.

• Conduct functional and acceptance testing on final products using appropriate test equipment and measurement gauges.

• Complete functional testing data sheets, inspection records, and other documentation accurately and legibly in English.

• Record first-pass yield information, measurements, and comments on inspection sheets and in databases to support quality metrics.

• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for light assembly, repairs, and machine building tasks.

• Inspect manufactured or processed products to ensure compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to determine component parts, wiring, and assembly sequences, ensuring units are in full compliance.

• Report any quality or safety issues to supervision in a timely manner and support corrective actions as needed.

• Meet production standards by completing work in a timely manner while maintaining high quality and accuracy.

• Perform troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical assemblies using test equipment such as multimeters and other diagnostic tools.

• Handle products, equipment, and materials in accordance with production department procedures and quality system requirements.

• Work collaboratively within a small assembly team, supporting continuous improvement in processes and product quality.

• Lift up to 50 pounds approximately 10–20% of the workday and stand for the majority of the shift.

Essential Skills

• Previous industrial assembler experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

• Strong mechanical and electrical assembly experience, including experience with wiring and component installation.

• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and specifications (blueprint reading).

• Hands-on experience using hand and power tools for assembly, disassembly, and machine building.

• Proficiency with measurement and test instruments, including multimeters, micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and various gauges.

• Experience performing functional testing and acceptance testing on assembled products.

• Knowledge of inspection, quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and documentation practices.

• Ability to complete inspection sheets, testing data sheets, and other quality documentation accurately in English.

• Comfort with constant hand-tool usage throughout the workday.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly for documentation and communication.

• Willingness to work 10–15 hours of overtime as needed to meet production demands.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and machine building in a production environment.

• Experience with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues using test equipment and measurement tools.

• Experience working with surface-mounted devices and soldering/de-soldering techniques.

• Familiarity with production, machine build processes, and functional testing in a manufacturing setting.

• Assembly and inspection experience using either schematics or blueprints.

• Quality control experience in an aerospace environment is a plus.

• Comfort working under ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high accuracy in measurements and documentation.

• Ability to work effectively within a small team and adapt to multiple machine cells and workstations.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position, working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The facility is extremely clean, well lit, and follows a very strict set of ISO 9001 regulations. The assembly department is a close-knit team of about 10 people, and you will be standing for the majority of the day while working at a dedicated desk or workstation with appropriate lighting and tools. The production floor features newer equipment and futuristic robots moving throughout the area, reflecting a modern, technology-driven environment. The role involves regular lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent use of hand and power tools, measurement devices, and test equipment in a structured, safety-conscious setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Addison, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $54080.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
