Job DescriptionPerformance Management Lead - Decatur, ILThis is an exempt level position reporting though the Plant Improvement organizationThe Performance Management Lead should be a subject matter expert of all financial aspects of operations, including operating costs and KPIs management. The performance management lead should take a leadership role in improving the plant’s cost position. This colleague is a critical link between the operations and commercial/finance teams, is important stakeholder and owner of the financial plan, and a key member of the operations leadership team. The responsibilities of the performance management lead include:Leading the preparation of the annual financial plan for operating the plant, business or regionEngage with plant, E2E finance and external stakeholders on setting benchmarks for operating cost. Coordinate all input for financial planAccountably own and coordinate planning non-financial KPIs such as OEE, usages and utilities. Train, coordinate and assist operations teams on the planning processIn partnership with plant controller, leading the plant cost analysis efforts and variance review process, with a view towards driving actions and value creation, and contributing to updated forecasts in alignment with finance teamsTake a lead role in leveraging performance management tools for review & response processAnalyze performance gaps and highlight areas of opportunity by mining PI data, Maximo data, accounting reports, and power BI reportsWork with plant controlling to explain cost anomaliesPromote accountability of financial and operational KPIs among plant/regional leadership via coaching and follow-upSupporting plant improvement, supply chain and capex teams where needed by:Leading OEE planning and analysisSupporting supply chain management on production planning. Taking part in AFE preparation and lookbacks to understand financial justification of capital expendituresLeading non-financial KPI managementWith PE/CI and Improvement, driving Performance Excellence initiatives, such as Zero Loss, Focused Improvement and Losses-to-ActionPlant safety leadershipPromote a positive safety attitude in all interactionsPerform all duties in compliance with ADM’s core valuesThe successful candidate will exhibit the following characteristics and skills:Have an understanding of operational accounting best practices and ability to navigate ADM’s systems and processes, leveraging experience, internal network and ability to learnSolid foundation in basic IT toolkit and productivity/BI software, and ability to adapt and provide needed information quickly and in a clear mannerUnderstand fundamentals of plant operations, including process flow, cost structure and basic energy and material balanceUnderstand purpose of each unit operation as well as its financial impactUnderstand high level operating KPIs such as OEE, yield, energy/chemical utilization, and Cost of Poor QualityUnderstand fundamentals of plant cost positionUnderstand drivers for fixed and variable costs, how to plan and analyze, able to grasp principles of benchmarking and optimizationAbility to understand diverse cost drivers such as depreciation, pricing, inflation, operational efficiency, allocations and absorptionAbility to communicate externally, both written and verbally, on plant/regional performance and improvement effortsShould be comfortable preparing and presenting consolidated information to an audienceMust be able to communicate effectively across multiple functions and levels.Job Qualifications:4 year university degree in engineering or accountancy preferred5+ years in operations accounting or process operations, with preferred exposure to both.Plant-specific process knowledge preferred, or sufficient ability to learn quickly. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
