If you enjoy working on C++ software while building products for the passionate community of Roblox, you'll be right at home within our experienced and growing social team. You will work with our Engineering Managers and Directors within our Engine's team, and will report to our Manager of the Real-Time Communications team.You Will:Build and launch the latest real-time communication platform from the ground up, designed to support billions of users.Employ best programming practices to write code that is efficient, maintainable, and scalable.Play a crucial role in the introduction of high-quality communication features/products on a wide range of devices, from mobile to high-end platforms.Enhance the robustness and performance of existing componentsCollaborate with engineers across engine and partner teams to create synergistic solutionsYou Have:Over 8+ years of experience developing and deploying user-facing software products.Successfully deployed a high-quality, multi-service distributed system at scale with low costs.Familiarity with the challenges of working at scale and on constrained platforms like consoles or mobile devices.Experience in performance optimization (working in Kernel, Assembly, C, and memory management).Proficiency in C++ and an understanding of parallel/concurrent programming conceptsA grasp of industry standards, best practices, and design patternsApproached problems from multiple perspectives, weighing the advantages and drawbacks of different solutionsYou Are:Enthusiastic about crafting software programming environments for game developers, eager to apply insights from multiple programming ecosystems to our scripting environmentAble to navigate complex codebasesDeveloping systems that are not just effective but also resilient over timeInquisitive, constantly learning and keeping abreast of the latest trends in scripting languages and programming environmentsFor roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
