Program Specialist

Program Specialist Department of Corrections – Program Services Full time, Regular position, Compensation: $42,281.75 per year. Responsibilities Plan, organize and direct components of agency or institutional programs or major divisions to achieve agency goals. Interpret and advise agency personnel and public on departmental rules, regulations and laws. Prepare administrative, statistical and fiscal documents pertaining to departmental activities. Supervise or direct staff in planning, promoting and implementing programs in line with agency policies and goals. Advise on resource needs, program priorities, timeline estimates, and develop policies, rules and regulations consistent with state and federal law. Plan, develop and conduct training, seminars, meetings, or clinics; represent the agency at meetings, seminars and conferences. Draft policies and procedures and develop contracts or grant proposals. Review proposed legislation and recommend changes; may serve as legislative liaison. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional or technical administrative experience in business or public administration, or equivalent combination. Knowledge of organization and management methods, public administration, agency policies and procedures, grant or contract program requirements, legislative process, statistical techniques, and federal and state laws and regulations related to program administration. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate orally and in writing, develop training programs, exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions, and organize and present facts and opinions. Special Requirements Willingness and ability to perform all job‑related travel. Some positions may require education and/or experience in agricultural product production, processing or wholesale marketing.
