Electrical Engineer

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team. This position is responsible for transforming initial red-line concepts into detailed, constructible engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Revit , while working closely with senior engineering leadership.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing electrical systems for commercial building projects and a strong understanding of applicable codes, calculations, and construction requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop detailed electrical designs for a variety of building and construction projects.
• Create, update, and maintain AutoCAD and Revit drawing packages.
• Perform electrical system design, equipment selection, layout, and sizing with guidance from senior engineering leadership.
• Design and develop:
  • Lighting and power circuitry
  • Voltage drop calculations
  • Short-circuit calculations
  • Interior and exterior lighting layouts
  • Lighting fixture specifications and schedules
  • Lighting calculations
  • Low-voltage lighting control systems
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • Electrical single-line diagrams
  • Utility coordination plans
  • Fire alarm system layouts and calculations
  • Data and communications systems
  • Sound and security system layouts
  • Emergency and life-safety systems
  • Energy code analyses
• Participate in conceptual design and project planning.
• Ensure designs comply with project schedules, regulatory requirements, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
• Maintain responsibility for engineering accuracy, quality control, and code compliance throughout the design process.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and documentation that are accurate, constructible, and consistent with project requirements.
• Coordinate with local building officials and authorities having jurisdiction regarding code compliance.
• Assist with project site visits, field verification, and reporting as required.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
• Support department activities including plotting drawings, preparing transmittals, organizing project documentation, and coordinating deliverables.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Candidates with degrees or backgrounds in other engineering or construction disciplines may be considered based on relevant experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional electrical design experience .
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit required.
• Experience designing electrical systems for commercial or similar building environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution, lighting, life-safety, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical, building, energy, and life-safety codes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to develop accurate technical calculations and engineering documentation.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable collaborating with engineers, project managers, clients, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to travel occasionally to project sites as required.
