The Ophthalmic Imager 2 (OI 2 ) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. The position documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic testing using specialized instrumentation in compliance with department standards.JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms diagnostic testing including but not limited to the below.Color fundus photographyFluorescein angiographyICG (Indocyanine Green) angiographyOptical coherence tomographyAutomated perimetrySlit lamp photographyExternal photographyOcular motility photographyPerforms supervised ocular diagnostic testing using specialty-specific imaging instruments, documents procedures, and uploads images into the electronic medical record /PACS platform.Provide s patient-centric care.Adhere s to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.Compl ies with regulations and maintain s patient confidentiality.Follow s best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.Complete s University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.Attend s educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.Demonstrate s high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.Meet s daily productivity goals.Ensure s all equipment is calibrated, and instrumentation is in proper working order.Participate s in assigned clinical research and maintain s required certifications.Organize s and stock rooms for daily clinical activities.Travel s to satellite eye centers when necessary.Work s evenings and weekends as needed.Performs organization al duties as assigned .Maintain s OPS certifications.Assist s with training of visiting imaging technicians, residents, fellows, and faculty members.Work s with providers, residents, and fellows to provide training and customization of imaging software including hanging protocols.Act s as preceptor for imaging team members .Act s as super user for imaging technology implementations and training initiatives.Support s residents, fellows, and faculty members with imaging presentations.Performs ocular diagnostic examinations using specialty-specific imaging instruments under anesthesia in the OR.T his list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.QUALIFICATIONSEducation:High S chool diploma or equivalentCertification and Licensing:OCT-C (Certified Optical Coherence Tomography) or CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer)Experience:2 years of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skill, and Attitudes:Works well with patients of all age groups .Present s a professional appearance.Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills.Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes, while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.Completes assignments accurately and with attention to detail.Makes independent, accurate decisions regarding the best use of time.Seeks out instruction in areas that require additional knowledge.Works independently and in a collaborative environment.Displays i ntermediate knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility.Demonstrates b asic comprehension of refractometry.Identif ies imaging instruments and modalities based on diagnosis.Knowledgeable in computer software for all imaging modalities.Independently p erform s standardized imaging protocols based on diagnosis.Competent in stereopsis technique .Proficien t in Microsoft Office.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
