Part-Time Bartender, Vault Pub, IU Dining and Hospitality

From our space in the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), hospitality staff serve thousands of guests each year through professional dining and retail operations and catered events, conferences, and celebrations, keeping our spaces clean, our food tasty, and our customers happy. IMU dining runs all dining operations in the IMU, including the Tudor Room, Sugar and Spice, The Vault Pub, and the Globe. IMU dining staff work closely with the hotel and catering teams, as well as IU's retail dining, to embody the Hoosier spirit through every customer interaction.

Job Summary

• Provides high quality guest service while enforcing policies and safety.
• Ensures guests have a positive, memorable experience.
• Assists with bar set-up/close-down plans including cash close-out.
• Maintains standards ensuring consistent presentation, aesthetics of setting and quality of beverage service.
• Attends beer, wine, and spirits trainings.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• Some bartending experience

OTHER

Required

• 21 years of age or older

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required

• Ability to obtain Alcohol Serving Permit upon date of hire

SKILLS

Required

• General knowledge of bartending and mixology, along with food safety practices
• Basic knife skills
• Ability to maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene while working in an intense and fast paced environment
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and show up in a timely manner

Working Conditions / Demands

This position requires tasks typically associated with back-of-the-house food service work and cleaning/ware washing. It involves periods of both sedentary work and times of frequent movement about the workspace. Using commercial kitchen equipment and tools, moving supplies weighing from 10-20 pounds, and effective communication skills are necessary. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. This role also will work indoors around both hot and cold temperatures and loud noises. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation

Advertised Salary

$12.75 per hour

Work Hours

Minimum of 10 hours per week, Monday - Sunday.

Capped at 29 hours per week.

Flexible work schedule with ability to work late hours.

Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate special meals and events.
