Test Lab Technician

Position SummaryThe Test Lab Technician performs electrical testing of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, components, and materials. This position sets up test equipment, follows approved procedures, records results, and helps investigate failures. The technician works with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure products meet customer specifications and Midcon’s quality requirements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSet up and perform tests according to customer specifications, drawings, work instructions, and approved test procedures.Conduct applicable tests such as continuity, resistance, insulation resistance, dielectric withstand, pull force, and other electrical or mechanical tests.Operate DIT-MCO automated test equipment and approved test programs to test wire harnesses and cable assemblies; review results and investigate test failures.Inspect test setups and verify that equipment and fixtures are suitable for the work.Accurately record test conditions, measurements, results, and any deviations in required records or systems.Identify failed or unusual results, contain affected product as directed, and communicate findings to the appropriate team.Assist Engineering and Quality with troubleshooting, failure analysis, prototype evaluations, and process improvements.Build or maintain test fixtures and cables within the scope of the position.Monitor equipment calibration status and report equipment that is damaged, overdue for calibration, or operating improperly.Handle customer products and technical information in accordance with applicable quality, safety, and security requirements.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe test area.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in electronics, electrical systems, or a related field preferred.Experience with electrical testing, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, or manufacturing quality preferred.Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and written test procedures.Familiarity with multimeters and other electrical test equipment preferred.Experience operating DIT-MCO test equipment preferred; ability to learn its test setup, operation, and result reporting required.Strong attention to detail and ability to document results clearly and accurately.Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.Ability to communicate test results and problems clearly to Engineering, Quality, and Production.Ability to meet applicable customer, contractual, and export control requirements for assigned work.Physical Requirements and Work EnvironmentThe position works primarily in a manufacturing test lab and may require standing or sitting for extended periods, handling small components, using hand tools, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
