Senior Designer

This is an on-site position at The Focus Group in Biloxi, Mississippi reporting to the Director of Creative & Web. The Senior Designer directly produces exceptional creative work while providing guidance to other designers. The Senior Designer possesses a mix of creative, artistic, branding, strategic marketing and business expertise while working with deadlines and budgets. The Senior Designer is a demonstrated professional with a natural eye for design and typography and a passion for delivering dynamic, exceptional work that delivers results for clients. This person will inspire and be inspired by others.

Objectives of This Role

• Utilize creative, design and strategic thinking skills to offer and develop exceptional work that helps advance client objectives.
• Develop work that builds upon and lives into each client’s unique brand.
• Create great, completely new brands when needed.
• Collaborate with the accounts team to align team priorities with business objectives so that high-quality work is delivered on time and on budget.
• Communicate ideas both verbally and visually with team and collaborate with Director of Creative & Web and the team.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize creative visions for projects and campaigns.
• Create static graphics, motion graphics, original illustrations, videos, commercials, social media graphics, print collateral, signage and more.
• Work with accounts team members to ensure thorough understanding of assignments for clients — objectives, milestones, budgets.
• Communicate regularly with Director of Creative & Web.
• Strive to provide excellent creative work in every project, from the smallest to the largest.
• Serve as a mentor and guide to younger, less-experienced designers.

Required skills and qualifications

• Exceptional ability in typography, illustration, layout, motion graphics, video and prototyping.
• Five or more years of professional experience in branding graphic design, experience in an agency a plus.
• Experience as a senior level designer.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in fine art or graphic design.
• Experience working with web developers on web page visual design and layout while balancing user experience (UX).
• Demonstrated ability to infuse a strong creative vision with while balancing attention to business objectives.
• Demonstrated experience in developing storyboards and motion graphics that include integration of video, still photos, static graphics, animation, music and voiceover.
• Proficiency and speed with Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Solid knowledge of web development, photography and video production.
• Ability to write and edit ad copy, blogs, web content and more.
• Experience with Adobe Animate or other animation applications a plus.
• Experience with Canva and/or Adobe Express a plus.
