Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a night shift travel contract at a Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center, requiring at least 1.5 years of ED experience and Level I Trauma Center background.

Details

• Work setting is a large, short-term acute care Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds
• Assignment is in the Emergency Department, with cross-training and floating to other campuses and ED observation as needed
• Patient ratios average 1:6 on both day and night shifts
• Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
• Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend is required
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is available
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC
• Minimum 1.5 years of ED RN experience from a comparable hospital setting; 2 years preferred
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Large hospital or academic medical center ED background strongly preferred
• Nursing license must be free of any prior disciplinary actions
• 1 professional reference required for consideration
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved; RTO exceeding 7 days requires manager approval
• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccination is required, with religious or medical exemptions considered
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Weekend call-out policy requires any missed weekend shift to be made up on another weekend shift within the following 6-week scheduling period
• If a weekend shift is missed, the traveler may contact the Traveler Manager immediately after to request a preferred makeup day
• A repeated call-out on a scheduled makeup shift will result in a coaching/final warning for time and attendance
