HLA Laboratory Scientist/UKHC Requisition Number: RE53230 Job Summary The HLA Laboratory Scientist/UKHC will perform laboratory testing in a fast‑paced academic medical center. The laboratory supports the Level I trauma center and other divisions such as solid organ and bone marrow transplant, the Kentucky Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This role analyzes and reports high‑complexity laboratory tests in the Immuno‑Molecular Pathology Laboratory, which serves hematology/oncology divisions and provides referral service to other institutions. Responsibilities Perform complex laboratory testing and analysis of patient specimens. Analyze and report high‑complexity immuno‑molecular pathology results. Maintain accurate data and comply with CAP and ASHI accreditation standards. Operate state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation and maintain laboratory quality systems. Collaborate with hematology/oncology and referral partners. Qualifications BS in a related scientific field (required). Experience handling patient specimens and performing complex testing and analysis. Knowledge of hematology, immunology, and/or blood banking preferred, including processing and cryopreservation concepts and practices. Strong organizational and prioritization skills, ability to work independently, multitask, computer proficiency, customer service, troubleshooting, attention to detail. Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time, view data on computer monitor(s), and lift up to 25 lbs. Work Schedule The laboratory operates 24 hours, 5 days a week. 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift may be available. Rotating weekend on‑call is required.
