We are partnered with a global, privately held energy organization seeking a Senior Manager / Director of Direct Tax to lead North American direct tax activities. This role provides broad exposure to a highly dynamic trading, renewables, upstream, and investment-driven business and serves as a trusted tax advisor to senior leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tax support to investment and deal teams on acquisitions, divestitures, and new business initiatives
• Oversee federal income tax compliance, including review of returns, estimated payments, and extension filings
• Review quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including current and deferred taxes, tax account reconciliations, and provision reporting under ASC 740 / IAS 12
• Analyze and validate financial and trading data sourced from accounting and operational systems
• Manage federal income tax audits and respond to jurisdictional tax notices
• Support OECD Pillar Two calculations and related global minimum tax requirements for North America
• Identify tax planning opportunities and implement tax‑efficient strategies
• Drive continuous improvement of tax processes, controls, and reporting
• Perform additional duties as business needs evolve

• Lead and develop a team of four experienced tax professionals

Qualifications

• 12+ years of federal corporate income tax experience, including consolidated compliance and tax provision (ASC 740 / IAS 12) experience in industry or public accounting
• Prior people‑management experience in a multinational environment
• Advanced Excel skills
• CPA license preferred
• Experience with enterprise tax compliance software preferred
• Exposure to partnership taxation preferred
• Exposure to international and/or state income tax preferred
• Experience with renewable energy projects and transactions preferred
