As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in assisting with the development and implementation of innovative design solutions. You will work closely with mechanical design engineers, project managers, and manufacturing personnel, to contribute to the creation of advanced products and systems.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*** Participate in the development of new projects from conceptual ideas to implementation.* Generate 3D models, Assemblies, and 2D drawings, including defining and documenting manufacturing information.* Conduct rigorous testing to validate and identify weaknesses with prototypes and make necessary improvements.* Possess thorough knowledge of lightweight structures and load path analysis.* Closely collaborate with internal and external departments to ensure accurate and timely manufacturing can occur.* Communicate with engineers or defense personnel in order to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical feedback.* Consult with business development personnel and customers in the field for training and problem solving.* Confer with government organizations on testing and documentational requirements.* Ensure solutions meet functional safety and reliability requirements.* Develop full knowledge of our in-house product lines.* Be a role model for the mindsets and behaviors necessary to create an environment of trust, participation, and accountability.* Mentor and advise the Junior Engineers in the department.* Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced, highly variable business.**SKILLS & ABILITIES:*** Accountability – accept responsibility and account for his/her own actions.* Accuracy – perform work accurately and thoroughly.* Analytical skills – possess critical thinking and reasoning skills to solve a problem.* Verbal communication – ability to communicate effectively with others verbally.* Written communication – demonstrate an ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.* Coordination – adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.* Detail-oriented – will pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.* Organized – demonstrate being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.* Decision making – ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.* Adaptability – ability to adapt to change in the workplace.* Deductive reasoning – ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.* Safety awareness – ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.* Problem solving – ability to find a solution for, or to deal proactively with, work-related problems.* Technical aptitude – ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.**Education/Experience:*** Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field.* 3+ years of experience in motorsports, military, or the automotive industry is required.* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 would be helpful.**Computer Skills:*** NX CAD or related design software experience needed.* Requires Ansys or related FEA software experience, as well as Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.**This role subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and as such, U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or U.S. Person Status Required.**Hendrick is an Equal Opportunity employer.
