Based at our New Johnsonville Plant in New Johnsonville, TN , you’ll report to the Asset & Reliability Manager and own an operating area. Your morning might start with a walkdown alongside mechanical crews and operators, followed by troubleshooting a rotating asset, reviewing inspection data for a pressure vessel, or refining a preventive maintenance strategy to balance Mechanical Integrity, reliability, and cost. Afternoons often bring root-cause deep dives, vendor calls to evaluate proposals, and drafting scopes, estimates, and schedules for reliability-focused improvements. Along the way, you’ll prepare RFPs, initiate MOCs, and connect with site reliability engineers and technicians to share learnings and accelerate improvements.

• Serve as the mechanical engineering resource for maintenance and operations—diagnosing failures, recommending repairs/upgrades, and elevating equipment performance.
• Scrutinize and refine preventive maintenance plans for frequency, scope, and effectiveness to meet reliability, cost, and Mechanical Integrity needs.
• Develop area equipment expertise; author and review maintenance procedures; support skills development and training.
• Initiate and drive Management of Change (MOC) for safety, quality, environmental, and cost improvements.
• Write RFPs and develop basic data for reliability-driven upgrades and equipment end-of-life replacements.
• Review inspection reports and analyze fitness-for-service, inspection quality, and proper intervals.
• Build and implement MI/QA, reliability, and PPM programs for the unit.
• Participate in PHAs and define scopes for capital projects.
• Lead RCFA teams, kaizen events, and problem-solving workshops.
• Prepare and audit scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and equipment specs.
• Assess vendor proposals for functionality, cost, and timing; exercise sound engineering judgment.
• Collaborate with site reliability engineers and technicians to deliver cross-area improvements.

• BS in Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering.
• At least 1 year of engineering experience.
• Knowledge of corporate standards.
• Familiarity with RAGEGAP, ASME Code, and API Standards.
• Understanding of machine shop operations and fabrication methods.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Experience with SAP or a similar maintenance management system.
• Understanding of PSM systems and high-hazard processes.
• Ability to lead long-range programs/projects while resolving near-term operational issues.
• Clear communicator across diverse teams; adept at influencing leaders, peers, and crafts.
• Comfort taking a hands-on approach with operators and mechanics to drive change.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
• Capable of wearing a full-face respirator and working in permitted confined spaces.
• Ability to climb, crawl, and bend as needed.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime when required.
• Preferred certifications: API 510, API 570, API 653, NBIC, NDE Level II (VT, UT, PT), vibration, CWI.
