Position Summary Opening and/or Closing Shift Lead. Shift Requirements Excellent Barista and Team Leadership experience required: 5 to 8 hour shifts. Business Hours Winter / Spring: 6-6 (Shift begins at 5:45). Summer / Fall: 6-7 (Shift ends after closing duties complete). Job Overview The Ziggi's Coffee Shift Lead assists the Management team in leading and overseeing all day‑to‑day operations and running of the floor. The Shift Lead has a positive attitude, willingness to take initiative, and great communication skills. Essential Functions Ensures the Ziggi's "Standards of Service" are always in place - exceptional customer service, excellent drink/food quality, accuracy, consistency, and speed of service. Maintains great and consistent communication with staff, managers, and store owner. Leads by example, has strong initiative, and adheres to all Ziggi's Coffee policies and procedures. Ensures staff correctly follow all policies and procedures. Ensures registers are always stocked and balances the cash drawer at the end of each shift. Trains new employees and offers continued training, support, and coaching to build existing staff skills. Makes corrections when needed if an employee is not correctly following a process, recipe, or procedure. Is knowledgeable in all aspects of day‑to‑day operations. Addresses any customer complaints that may arise in the absence of the General or Assistant Managers, corrects the issue, and relays any incidents to them. Delegates the overseeing of daily checklists, weekly cleaning extras, implements additional monthly deep cleaning tasks, and assists with inventory as needed. Performs any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to listen well and communicate professionally and friendly. Ability to focus on customer satisfaction. Ability to practice basic safety procedures with respect to equipment and handling hot beverages. Ability to be efficient and organized. Ability to build good relationships with customers. Ability to maintain a clean work environment. Ability to keep supplies replenished to minimize downtime. Ability to be enthusiastic and outgoing with a passion for service. Ability to gauge customers’ preferences. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to apply appropriate decision‑making within scope of work procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Flexibility in hours worked, including openings, closings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Demands The employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach and lift with arms, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required: close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
