JOB SUMMARY

The Junior Accountant supports Treasury and day-to-day accounting operations for UBE Urethanes USA and related entities. The role is primarily responsible for banking administration, daily cash activities, payment-run preparation, cash-position reporting, and treasury documentation. The position also supports accounting entries, reconciliations, and the preparation of proposed journal-entry adjustments for management review and approval.

This position serves as the preparer within the Treasury workflow, supporting the appropriate review and approval process in accordance with the company’s segregation-of-duties and internal-control requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Treasury & Banking Support

1. Support administration of company bank accounts, online banking access, user maintenance, and banking documentation.2. Prepare daily cash-position and liquidity reports, including bank-balance monitoring.3. Prepare payment-run support and payment documentation for review and approval.4. Support bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items promptly.5. Assist with cash forecasting, intercompany cash movements, loans, and related supporting schedules.6. Assist with cash pooling administration, including daily balance monitoring, sweep confirmation, and intercompany interest support.7. Coordinate with banks on account maintenance, ACH/wire setup, check services, fraud-prevention tools, and other treasury matters.8. Maintain organized treasury records, bank confirmations, payment support, and control evidence.9. Assist with credit management activities, including customer credit reviews, credit reference checks, credit limit documentation, and monitoring of credit status.

Accounting Support

10. Prepare journal-entry support and proposed adjustment entries for review by the Treasurer or Finance & Accounting Manager.

11. Support month-end close activities, including accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll entries, bank-related entries, and inter-company accounting.

12. Prepare account reconciliations and follow up on outstanding or unusual items.

13. Support AP and AR teams or outsourced providers with payment exceptions, cash application questions, vendor inquiries, and reconciliation issues.

14. Assist with audit schedules, internal-control documentation, J-SOX support, and requests from internal and external auditors.

15. Support SAP S/4HANA testing, banking integration, master-data validation, and reporting as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 1-3 years of accounting, treasury, banking, or cash-management experience preferred.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system and online banking platforms preferred.
• Able to handle confidential financial information and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or multinational environment preferred.
• Japanese language ability is a plus, but not required.
