About Company:
Playa Bowls is New Jersey's Original Acai Shop, founded in 2014, and our mission is to bring superfruit bowls to the masses using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients while providing a fantastic in-store brand experience. What began as a pair of blenders, a patio table, and a fridge has flourished into a 300+ unit operator and franchisor of the leading fast casual restaurant concept. Playa Bowls added more than 70+ locations in 2024 and are on target to add as many 90 new locations in 2025. Our continued rapid growth has created the opportunity for an individual who will help us with continuing to grow our brand!
About the Role:
The Shift Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of daily activities within the service environment. This position is responsible for overseeing team members during assigned shifts, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. The Shift Leader acts as a key point of contact between management and staff, facilitating communication and resolving any operational issues that arise. By leading by example and providing guidance, the Shift Leader helps foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and productivity. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to achieving operational goals and delivering an exceptional experience to customers and clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the service industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Basic proficiency with computer systems and point-of-sale technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in business administration, management, or a related field.
- Experience working in the 'Other Services' industry sector.
- Certification in first aid or workplace safety.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and resolve issues effectively.
- Familiarity with scheduling software and inventory management systems.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of team members during assigned shifts to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to company standards.
- Provide training, support, and motivation to staff to maintain high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally to maintain positive relationships.
- Prepare and maintain accurate shift reports, including attendance, incidents, and operational issues, and communicate relevant information to management.
Skills:
The Shift Leader utilizes strong leadership and communication skills daily to guide and support team members, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to standard. Problem-solving abilities are essential for addressing operational challenges and customer concerns promptly and effectively. Organizational skills are applied to manage shift schedules, maintain accurate records, and oversee inventory or resource allocation. Technical skills, including familiarity with point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications, facilitate smooth transaction processing and reporting. Additionally, interpersonal skills foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and high morale among staff.
