Clinical Dietitian

Join a highly collaborative team of registered dietitians practicing at the top of their scope in an 800+ bed, high-acuity teaching hospital, with expanding opportunities as the team continues to grow. Partner closely with interdisciplinary teamsincluding wound care, endocrinology, and oncologyto deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. Responsible for providing clinical nutrition services, including nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, self-management training and nutrition intervention to patients/residents. Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess the nutritional status of patients/residents/customers and determine individualized nutrition care plan.
  • Monitor effectiveness of nutrition care plan per standards of care.
  • Coordinate nutritional care of patient with food services.
  • Complete nutrition-focused physical exams (NFPE).
  • Diagnose and address malnutrition with appropriate nutrition care plan.
  • Serve as expert on identifying and treating malnutrition.
  • Educate other members of the health care team on malnutrition.
  • Document nutrition assessments, interventions, and follow-up care in the EMR according to policy.
  • Track data related to patient caseload, complexity and time spent in indirect care activities.
  • Provide nutrition education and outreach to the local community.
  • Participate in hospital community nutrition education program.
  • Develop nutrition education materials for community programs.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients, students, staff, and community members as needed.
  • Provide guidance, education, and direction to clinical dietetic technicians and food and nutrition employees, when appropriate.
  • Orient, mentor and train interns as applicable.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition/Dietetics or related field
  • Experience: None
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Commission on Dietetic Registration); Must have Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CT Department of Public Health) within 90 days of hire *RD eligible (Must achieve Registered Dietitian credential and request CDN within 90 days of hire)
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read, write and speak English

Preferred Requirements:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Nutrition or related field
  • Experience: One year of work experience in clinical nutrition
  • Language Skills: Additional languages a plus
