Job Description Cenikor Foundation is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct support and care to individuals receiving treatment for substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders. The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment while supporting clients throughout their recovery journey. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitor and supervise clients to ensure their safety, well‑being, and compliance with program guidelines. Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment and recovery plans under the direction of clinical staff. Facilitate and support daily therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities. Conduct routine client observations and document behavioral changes, incidents, and progress accurately and promptly. Assist with client admissions, orientation, discharges, and transitions within the treatment program. Administer drug and alcohol screenings in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Transport clients to appointments, community activities, and other approved destinations as needed. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health record systems. Respond appropriately to crisis situations and behavioral emergencies following established protocols. Collaborate with counselors, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members to support client care and treatment goals. Promote a positive, recovery‑oriented environment that encourages personal growth and accountability. Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, or a related field preferred. Experience Previous experience working in behavioral health, mental health, substance abuse treatment, or a related healthcare setting preferred. Experience working with individuals in recovery is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients. Knowledge of behavioral health, substance use disorders, and recovery principles. Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and de‑escalate challenging behaviors. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems. Certifications and Licenses Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain upon hire. Additional behavioral health or substance abuse certifications may be required based on state regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as necessary.
