Zus's mission is to catalyze healthcare's greatest inventors by maximizing the value of patient insights - so that they can build up, not around.What We're Looking ForWe're hiring a Staff Integrations Engineer to operate as a high-impact individual contributor at the intersection of software engineering and solution delivery. This is a deeply hands-on role: you'll write production-grade code, build and operate data systems, and own the technical strategy and execution of complex customer integrations.You'll lead integrations across HIEs, EHRs, claims systems, labs, and other healthcare data sources. This includes turning ambiguous requirements into clear designs, building secure and reliable data pipelines, and ensuring ongoing system performance through monitoring and observability.You'll also serve as a senior technical advisor to customers—guiding architecture decisions, troubleshooting issues, and shaping how integrations are implemented. This role is for someone who builds and improves systems, not just configures them.The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the stack: parsing messy HL7 payloads, building services in Go, scripting in Python, and leading technical conversations with customers.Key Responsibilities:Lead and Deliver IntegrationsOwn end-to-end delivery of customer integrations, including State HIE and ADT feeds—from scoping through production supportDesign and implement data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and deliveryBuild roster management workflows (ingestion, reconciliation, lifecycle management)Architect reliable and scalable data transmission mechanisms (APIs, SFTP, event-driven systems)Establish automated QA and validation frameworks to ensure data integrityAct as a Technical AdvisorPartner with customers to design integration approaches and guide technical decisionsTranslate ambiguous requirements into clear, implementable solutionsAdvise on interoperability best practices and system architectureAlign customer needs with platform capabilitiesTroubleshoot and Improve SystemsServe as an escalation point for complex integration and data pipeline issuesDebug across the full stack, from transformation logic to downstream deliveryIdentify root causes and implement durable, code-driven fixesReduce operational overhead by eliminating recurring issues through automationBuild Internal Systems and ToolingDevelop monitoring and observability systems for integration healthCreate alerting, dashboards, and automated diagnosticsBuild internal tools to accelerate implementation, QA, and troubleshootingContinuously improve the scalability and reliability of integration systemsYou're A Good Fit Because You Have:7+ years of experience in software, integrations, or forward-deployed engineeringStrong programming skills (Python, Go, or similar) with a track record of building production systemsExperience with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, ADT, CDA)AI-native developmentProven ability to design and build data pipelines and integrations—not just configure themStrong SQL skills and experience working with large, messy datasetsExperience building monitoring and observability systemsAbility to debug complex distributed systems end-to-endExperience working directly with customers in a technical, consultative roleExcellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiencesStrong ownership and ability to independently drive ambiguous problems to completionFamiliarity with security and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2)A desire to improve healthcare data infrastructureWe Will Offer You…Competitive compensation that reflects the value you bring to the team a combination of cash and equityRobust benefits that include health insurance, wellness benefits, 401k with a match, unlimited PTOOpportunity to work alongside a passionate team that is determined to help change the world (and have fun doing it)Please Note: Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply unless they meet 100% of the job criteria.
