Principal Scientist Bioconjugation
Amgen
Amgen seeks a Principal Scientist to lead bioconjugation process development for antibody drug conjugates and other bioconjugates. The role involves driving technology innovation, mentoring staff, and supporting manufacturing scale-up from early to late-stage development at the Thousand Oaks, California site.
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams developing sustainable, cost-effective bioconjugate manufacturing processes across clinical development stages
- Drive innovation in bioconjugation technology and support cGMP manufacturing and technology transfer
- Develop process understanding, modeling, and characterization strategies to ensure performance
- Mentor colleagues and provide technical and career guidance within the organization
- Support regulatory documentation and filings while meeting project timelines
Requirements
- PhD, PharmD, or MD with 2+ years scientific experience, or Master's with 5+ years, or Bachelor's with 7+ years
- Expertise in bioconjugate process development and industrialization, preferably ADCs with HPAPI linker-payload synthesis
- GMP manufacturing and technology transfer experience to contract manufacturers
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration in dynamic, interdisciplinary environments
- People-centered leadership skills with proven ability to build and mentor teams
- Track record of publications, patents, or presentations in the field
