Job Description

The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping production equipment running safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems, supports machine setups and changeovers, and partners closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to maximize equipment uptime and product quality.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical production equipment.
• Support production by performing machine setups, changeovers, adjustments, and start-up verification to ensure equipment is ready for manufacturing.
• Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and safety.
• Diagnose equipment issues using mechanical drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics, manuals, and machine documentation.
• Install, replace, adjust, and maintain machine components including bearings, gearboxes, motors, sensors, cylinders, tooling, fixtures, and related equipment.
• Support operators during production by resolving equipment issues, optimizing machine performance, and minimizing downtime.
• Conduct equipment testing and validation following repairs, setups, or process changes to confirm proper operation.
• Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend improvements to increase reliability, quality, and productivity.
• Support automated equipment, robotic systems, vision systems, and related manufacturing technologies as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment status, priorities, and improvement opportunities to production and engineering teams.
• Train and assist operators and fellow technicians in basic troubleshooting, equipment care, and setup best practices.
• Follow all safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and company safety procedures.
• Set up and validate machines in assigned areas, including calibration, adjustment of settings, and verification of configurations.
• Conduct initial test runs to validate machine setup before full production.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational problems with production equipment.
• Provide operator support with a focus on changeovers and setups based on established priorities.
• Assist Quality Control teams in identifying and resolving quality issues related to equipment and tooling.
• Replace and maintain tooling components, dies, and other machine parts as required.
• Fabricate, modify, install, and repair machine components and production tooling to support manufacturing needs.

Essential Skills

• Three or more years of electro-mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
• Hands-on experience with industrial preventive maintenance on electric motors, gearboxes, pneumatic cylinders, cams, bearings, VFD systems, sensors, servos, and potentiometers.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Experience implementing and working within preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Demonstrated ability to fabricate, modify, install, and repair machine components and production tooling.
• Strong commitment to safety, equipment reliability, and supporting production uptime.
• Experience working with 24VDC control systems.
• Ability to set up, calibrate, and validate machines, including adjusting settings and verifying configurations for optimal performance.
• Skill in conducting initial test runs to validate machine setup before full-scale production.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and operational problems on production equipment.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with operators, production, engineering, and quality teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supporting automated equipment, robotic systems, and vision systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous work in PLC troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting, including three-phase systems.
• Familiarity with maintenance repair practices for complex production machinery.
• Comfort working from blueprints and detailed technical documentation.
• Ability to prioritize changeovers and setups based on production needs.
• Experience assisting Quality Control teams in resolving equipment-related quality issues.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and reliability.
• Ability to train and mentor operators and other technicians in basic troubleshooting and equipment care.

Work Environment

This role is based in an air-conditioned manufacturing facility with a separate air filtration system, providing a clean and comfortable workspace. The maintenance team supports approximately 19 machines and works within a department of about eight people, fostering close collaboration and strong communication. This is a Permanent position based out of St. Petersburg, FL.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
