Registered Nurse (RN)

The unit specializes in managing patients with conditions such as Myocardial Infarction (MI), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Arrhythmias, Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), and provides some overflow support for medical-surgical patients. The department administers various cardiac drips and is proficient in managing these without the use of nitrates.

Schedule

• Employment guarantees of 36 or 48 hours per week are available.
• Work schedule is from 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Every other weekend is required.
• No call required.
• Floating to other areas may be required as needed.

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care based on the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families, in alignment with their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols, monitoring for side effects and efficacy.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and all provided care accurately.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying relevant issues and resources.

Job Requirements

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• BLS certification from AHA is required.
• ACLS certification from AHA is required.
• Current RN License in the state of employment or compact is required.

Experience

• A minimum of one year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Position Requirements

• All newly hired, experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• Successful completion of preceptorship with a designated, trained staff member is required.
• Annual competency verification requirements must be completed.

Dress Code

Ceil blue scrubs are required for this position.

Nurse/Patient Ratio

The standard ratio is 5:1 but may increase to 6:1 on occasions.

Summary

The competent Nurse in this role practices independently, demonstrating awareness of clinical situations and providing both routine and complex care. This position involves managing contingencies effectively while making appropriate assignments and delegations to optimize clinical situations.
