Director of Nursing (DON)Location: Queens, New YorkJob Type: Full-Time | Permanent | Direct Hire | On-SiteA premier skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in New York is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to provide overall clinical leadership and operational oversight for its Nursing Department.Reporting directly to the Administrator, the Director of Nursing oversees daily nursing operations, drives high-quality resident-centered care, and ensures continuous compliance with state and federal healthcare standards. In this key executive role, you will champion clinical excellence, mentor a dedicated nursing team, maintain survey readiness, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize resident outcomes.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the daily operations and clinical management of the nursing departmentEnsure full compliance with all applicable federal, CMS, and New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulationsProvide direct clinical leadership, supervision, mentoring, and support to all nursing department staffMaintain continuous facility readiness for state, federal, and regulatory surveys and inspectionsManage department staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and oversee ongoing clinical staff competenciesDevelop, review, and implement evidence-based nursing policies, clinical procedures, and operational best practicesActive leader in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and quality initiativesConduct regular clinical rounds to monitor resident care delivery, clinical outcomes, and staff performanceAddress and resolve staff concerns, clinical complaints, and grievances in a professional and timely mannerCollaborate closely with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to foster a positive, high-performing care environmentQualifications:Licensure: Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York requiredLeadership Experience: Previous Director of Nursing (DON) or senior nursing leadership experience in a long-term care setting requiredClinical Experience: Extensive background and clinical experience in skilled nursing and long-term care environments requiredRegulatory Expertise: Strong, in-depth knowledge of New York State DOH regulations, CMS requirements, and survey processesTechnical Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with SigmaCare EMR is strongly preferredCore Competencies: Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational efficiency, and high professional standardsBenefits Package:Comprehensive Health Coverage: Top-tier Health, Dental, and Vision insurance plansExecutive Leadership Role: High-visibility position guiding clinical operations and nursing teamsProfessional Support: Strong interdisciplinary support structure and administrative leadership partnershipNote on Compensation: Final base salary will be determined based on candidate qualifications, clinical background, executive leadership experience, and overall alignment with department models.
