Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Externship Overview Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical examinations, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dental services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patients medically. In addition to clinical practice, students will have the opportunity to practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Program Details Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in externships at the Animal Hospital of Orange Grove. In some instances, housing may be available. Eligibility Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
