Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill or injured pediatric patients within a 21-bed PICU setting
• Manage patients presenting with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-acuity care to pediatric patients and their families
• Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements; travelers are first to float and may be reassigned to alternate units to fulfill contract hours
• Complete and pass a required Telemetry/Arrhythmia exam prior to start date

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN license or a compact RN license from the traveler's permanent address state
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association only
• PALS certification through the American Heart Association
• Minimum of two years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last three years in the PICU specialty
• Pediatric ICU experience required; solid PICU background with some CV ICU, cardiac step-down, or general cardiac experience required
• Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start (two attempts permitted; a third attempt requires submission of a cardiac interpretation review course certificate of completion; failure to pass after three attempts will result in assignment cancellation)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
• Experience with ECMO and/or organ transplantation in a pediatric setting
• Familiarity with Level One Pediatric Trauma Center environments
