Make a lasting impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting K-5th grade students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Located just outside Washington, DC, this contract assignment provides the chance to work with a highly dedicated team in a single school setting. With a manageable caseload of 8-10 students, you will facilitate specialized instruction and foster growth in an inclusive learning environment. The director is actively scheduling interviews, making this an exciting opportunity for passionate educators ready to start between August 10th and 21st, 2026. Paid training/preservice days will prepare you for the academic year commencing August 24, and the assignment continues through June 23, 2027.

Key Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Background working with elementary-age students (K-5th grade preferred)
• Ability to design and implement individualized instruction based on student needs
• Commitment to creating a supportive, structured classroom environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work closely with a team of educators and families
• No specific licensure required for this position

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and behavioral support to K-5th grade students with autism
• Develop and execute lesson plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Use evidence-based strategies to promote positive learning outcomes
• Collaborate with other school professionals and families to monitor progress and refine learning plans
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and preservice training
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with stakeholders
