Senior Producer, National Geographic Production Services Job ID 10158006 Location Washington, DC, United States Business National Geographic Date posted Aug. 19, 2026 Job Summary: The Senior Producer on the Production Services team will be responsible for producing and delivering a wide range of content, including kids, travel, science, and natural history content for National Geographic’s portfolio of streaming, digital, and linear platforms. This role is ideal for a highly creative, collaborative, and experienced producer who can bring strong storytelling instincts, production expertise, and a sharp editorial eye to both short and long-form content. Leveraging National Geographic's world-class archive and AI-enabled tools, the Sr. Producer enhances content curation, archival discovery, metadata enrichment, and identification of key narrative moments within existing content collections. The role collaborates closely with internal teams, production management, talent, editors, research external partners, and creative development and production leads to maximize the value of archival assets while delivering compelling, high-quality content that inspires curiosity, discovery, and a deeper understanding of the world. Responsibilities Produce greenlit kids, travel, science, natural history, and archival-focused content from pre-production through post-production, ensuring projects stay on schedule and meet creative, editorial, and delivery requirements. Manage projects from greenlight through final delivery, including research, field production, scripting, narration, post-production, audio mixes, and quality control. Produce both short and long-form content utilizing the National Geographic archive, transforming historical assets, footage, photography, and related materials into compelling viewing experiences for various NG platforms. Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance archival discovery, content curation, metadata enrichment, asset organization, and identification of key narrative moments, themes, and story beats within existing content collections. Create and manage production and post-production schedules to ensure assigned shows are delivered on time, on budget, and in accordance with brand adherence. Partner with Production Management to develop production budgets, hire crews, and coordinate filming logistics and locations that support kids, travel, science, wildlife, and cultural storytelling. Identify and collaborate with subject matter experts, on-camera talent, narrators, recording studios, composers, and other creative partners as needed. Oversee the post-production process for short and long-form assigned shows, including edits, scripts, narration records, original music, graphics, audio mixes, and final delivery. Ensure all assigned programs meet NG Research, Standards & Practices, Rights Management, archival usage requirements, and technical delivery standards. Support and mentor the internal producing teams, sharing best practices in production management, archival storytelling, content curation, and AI-assisted workflow across creative projects as needed. Basic Qualifications Minimum of 7 years of experience in nonfiction content production for a production company or network. Strong storytelling skills with the ability to shape compelling content across platforms. Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing deadlines and deliverables. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, cross-functional partners, and third-party vendors. Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Experience creating and managing production budgets. Demonstrated inclusive mindset and personal commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. Familiarity with editing systems and databases. Required Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. The hiring range for this position in Washington, D.C. is $123,700 to $170,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
