Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Emergency Department treating an average of 100 patients per day across a diverse patient population
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, adjusting to 1:2 for ICU-level patients
• Operate within a fast-paced ED environment supported by ED Techs (EMT or cross-trained aides), a shift manager, and a resource nurse
• Document and manage patient care using Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems; experience with ventilator patients required
• Participate in weekend coverage — expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Fri/Sat for nights); holiday coverage includes 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• Float between two ED locations (approximately 6.5 miles apart) as needed, with at least 2 hours notice provided for pre-shift floating

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of California (or compact equivalent accepted per state rules)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Open availability required — schedules are set on a 4-week basis; block scheduling is not permitted and PRN schedule accommodations will not be made
• This position must serve as the candidate's primary place of employment; secondary job scheduling conflicts will not be accommodated

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a high-volume emergency department setting
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Omnicell pharmacy systems
• Experience caring for complex or high-acuity patient populations, including correctional patients or underserved communities
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a strong team-oriented environment
