Job Summary Direct Support Professional – Adult Services at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health. Salary range: $17.25–$19.67 per hour. The role involves working with a dedicated team to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living activities, crisis prevention, and therapeutic care. Responsibilities Assist individuals with daily living activities: health and hygiene management, meal preparation, cleaning, recreation, and documentation. Prepare shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress reports. Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional and personal needs of the clients. Participate in comprehensive training in crisis prevention/intervention, trauma‑informed care, CPR, and first aid. Collaborate with clinicians, nurses and other direct staff to implement individualized support plans. Adhere to safe and positive approaches, including physical intervention techniques when necessary. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (international diplomas must be evaluated). Minimum 1 year of human service experience working with children, adolescents and adults. At least 21 years of age and a valid driver’s license. Empathetic, team‑player with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong passion for helping individuals with special needs and a commitment to ongoing training. Physical Requirements Significant walking, sitting, standing; lifting or managing resistance of 75–100 lbs. or more; repetitive wrist/hand movements. Normal vision and hearing required. Occasional use of computers, office equipment and driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Must achieve 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches. Work Environment Work in adequately lighted and ventilated areas with temperature fluctuations. Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial masks, protective eyewear, and gowns may be required. Possible exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Physical involvement in Safe and Positive Approaches is part of daily duties.
