Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin, at a dedicated observation and inpatient unit. This role involves providing high-quality patient care within a 8-bed unit, managing patients with conditions such as anemia, cellulitis, COPD, CHF, dehydration, pre-operative, urology, GI issues, and medication drips. The position demands the ability to read and interpret electrocardiogram strips and perform an EKG exam during compliance. The schedule includes 12-hour evening shifts, with the possibility of rotating weekends and holidays. This assignment is ideal for experienced RNs seeking a 13-week contract starting in late August 2026, with a focus on observation and step-down care.

Job Details:

• Location: Wausau, WI
• Shift: 12-hour evening shifts (11:00 AM 11:30 PM)
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS, ACLSARC or AHA, minimum 2 years of clinical experience including at least 1 travel assignment, charting experience required with EPIC, ability to interpret strips and perform EKG exams during compliance, background in observation units or step-down medical-surgical/telemetry units, strong skills in managing Drips such as Cardiac Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced inpatient environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Resilience, adaptability, independent task management, collaborative mindset, positive attitude, and flexibility within dynamic shift conditions.
• Additional Information: The unit handles admissions and discharges frequently, with most stays up to 48 hours. Scrub colors are flexible (any color). During flu season, travelers declining vaccination are required to wear masks. GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation; set hours are guaranteed during the contract except during holidays and flu season constraints.
