Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Pain Management Clinic

The LVN supports the pain management team by providing focused nursing care before and after procedures, including monitoring patients recovering from injections. The LVN follows provider orders and clinic protocols, documents patient care, and promptly reports changes in a patient’s condition to the supervising provider. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare exam and procedure rooms and verify that supplies and equipment are ready. Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, review medication lists, and gather relevant health information. Assist providers with patient care and procedures as directed and within the LVN’s scope of practice. Monitor patients after injections according to provider orders and clinic protocols, including observing and documenting vital signs, comfort, and response to the procedure. Recognize and promptly report unexpected symptoms or changes in condition, such as difficulty breathing, fainting, unusual weakness or numbness, significant bleeding, or severe pain. Provide discharge instructions approved by the provider and confirm that the patient’s discharge criteria are met before release. Document care, observations, communications, and patient instructions accurately in the medical record. Communicate with providers and clinic staff to support safe, timely patient care. Maintain patient privacy and follow infection-control, medication-handling, and workplace safety procedures. Help maintain clinical supplies and equipment and report any issues. Travel between assigned clinic locations as scheduled. Qualifications Current, active Texas LVN license in good standing. Current CPR/BLS certification. Previous outpatient, pain management, procedure-room, or post-procedure monitoring experience preferred. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to travel between assigned clinic locations. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Scope of Practice The LVN performs assigned duties under appropriate supervision and follows Texas law, provider orders, and clinic policies. Patient monitoring and discharge must follow the clinic’s protocols and the supervising provider’s direction.
