Utilities Engineer

Job Description

The Judge Group is seeking a Utilities Engineer in Murfreesboro, TN area! They will oversee project management by developing and executing short- and long-term plans, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring projects meet deadlines, quality standards, and business objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, budgeting, execution, and continuous improvement of plant utility and infrastructure projects to support operational performance, capacity growth, and sustainability objectives.
\n
• Manage utility systems, including wastewater treatment, ammonia refrigeration, boilers, steam generation, compressed air, and related infrastructure to ensure reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
\n
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies, preventative maintenance programs, and asset improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life.
\n
• Drive energy management and sustainability initiatives by monitoring utility consumption, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and implementing projects that improve energy efficiency and environmental performance.
\n
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements, including permit management, emissions controls, wastewater operations, and reporting obligations.
\n
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and external agencies to support production growth, maintain environmental compliance, and achieve business objectives.
\n
• Manage utility-related budgets, capital expenditures, contractor activities, invoices, and performance metrics while delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
\n
• Analyze utility system performance and prepare KPI reporting, forecasting, and operational reviews to drive data-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
\n
• Provide leadership, training, and technical guidance to utility and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.
\n
• Coordinate regulatory reporting and documentation activities with internal stakeholders and government agencies to maintain permits and ensure ongoing compliance.

Requirements:

\n
• Bachelor’s degree required
\n
• 5+ years experience overseeing all facets of utility and resource maintenance and reliability management in a manufacturing facility
\n
• Wastewater Systems Certification required
\n
• Experience with ammonia systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) for ammonia systems
\n
• Experience with high-pressure boiler systems, operations, and regulatory compliance
\n
• Experience in safety and environmental processes to maintain a manufacturing facility in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
