Registered Nurse (RN) - OR General Surgery

Role Overview: Provides direct nursing care as an Operating Room Nurse, supporting surgical teams and ensuring patient safety. Key Responsibilities Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and age-related needs to deliver individualized care. Review charts for completeness and adhere to documentation protocols before and after surgery. Prepare the operating room, check and troubleshoot equipment, and maintain sterilization standards. Position and prepare patients on the operating table, monitor vital signs, and ensure safety precautions. Pass instruments and assist surgeons during procedures while maintaining sterile techniques. Communicate effectively with patients, team members, and physicians for seamless care. Qualifications & Skills Licensed Registered Nurse credential from the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Operating Room Nurse; scrub experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, patient safety, and surgical procedures. Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and excellent organizational and communication abilities. Team player committed to high standards of care.
